About Brenda
I don’t think we should ever stop learning or trying to improve ourselves. When I’m feeling stuck I reach out to friends, family and mentors to help me. As a coach I have helped many people who were stuck or progressing slower towards their goals than they would like. I have always liked helping people figure out how they can get what they want out of life.
I tell you about my education and experience and my story to help you decide if I'm the kind of person you'd like to work and learn with. It can be summarized by saying that I have six years experience as a life coach. I changed careers to become a life coach because I wanted to reach my potential and I wanted to help others do the same. I've had stress and challenges in my health, work, finances, and relationships and have come to a place where I am happy, although still continuing to work towards joy and harmony.
Family:
I am married to a wonderful husband and father, and we have two beautiful, intelligent and independent young girls (perhaps I’m a little biased). I have experience balancing time with family while working full-time, part-time and as a stay-at-home mom. I strive to balance time for me, time for work, and time with my family.
Interests:
I have an avid interest in learning how the Universe works - those unseen things like coincidences, continually attracting the same kind of person into your life, and making what you want to happen effortlessly. I also enjoy hiking, canoeing, traveling, and going to movies and restaurants. For our 20th anniversary my husband and I took our canoe on the River of Golden Dreams in Whistler, hiked on Blackcomb, relaxed by the fire, and dined by candlelight. I’m a fan of the tv shows No Ordinary Family, The Closer, Medium, Eureka and CSI. I rent DVDs of Six Feet Under and Grey's Anatomy. My favourite movies are The Matrix, Mystic Pizza, and The Great Escape. I also liked What the Bleep, The Secret and the Orb Project. I read books almost everyday on topics ranging from listening with the heart to vibrational energy.
Health:
After my second pregnancy I changed the way I ate for health reasons, and as a bonus lost all the pregnancy weight and an extra 40lbs I had been carrying for over six years. Because of those changes I now have more energy, rarely get colds now, and need less sleep. I changed my kids’ diets when they developed health problems, and saw their health and behaviour improve. I believe in gathering information from traditional and alternative medical sources then making changes to the basics first to see if that is enough. I talk more about my health interests on my health blog.
Stress:
I left a high-paying career in 2001 for several reasons. Once I left that job my stress decreased substantially. I cope best with stress I have now in my life if I get enough sleep, eat healthy food, breathe deeply, go for walks in nature, dance with my daughters to loud music, and take time to laugh.
