Time for Spring Cleaning

Are your closets jammed full? Too much stuff on your counters? Piles of papers? Have you bought a second one of something because you couldn’t find the original one? Time to get organized!

Start by getting rid of things that shouldn’t be in your house. Do you use it? Do you like it? If you don’t, give it to someone that can use it (relative, friend or charity). Will you fix it soon?  If not, either hire someone or throw it out. If clothes don’t fit you, donate or consign them and reward yourself later when you reach your goal. Spend 15 min/day sorting into labelled boxes: file, recycle, donate, sell, garbage.  Empty the boxes once a week.

Store things in categories and put them back after you use them.  Keep only the papers you need to look at again and file them in categories so you can find them. Put envelopes and papers you won’t read into the recycling bag as soon as you get the mail. Get a basket for unpaid bills and important papers. Think twice before you buy more things.

Getting rid of clutter makes you feel full of energy and ready to take on the world. Once you have organized your home, you may find you are ready to set new goals so you can live the life you want.
